The one with the wedding

Indian weddings are a whole another level of skillsets being used together, for a cause which occurs once in a lifetime. These heritages of culture, empathy, sympathy, and bonding are indeed a sight to behold when they unfold right in front of our eyes. Even though everything appears to run according to flow in every aspect, we fail to appreciate the brains and brawns who handle the little hiccups across the various events, until we are a part of it.

When I was first pulled into the preparations for the wedding taking place in less than a week, I jumped right into it with full energy and tried to help in every aspect I could. I’m not sure if it was the fact that I overworked myself, or ate too much, but I had such a sound sleep, that I vaguely remember waking up at dawn and getting ready for another day of activities. Even though I had felt that I wouldn’t have any energy left for the next day if I work at the same pace, I surprised myself when I showed up early morning and was hungry for more, for both the food and the work equally.

As the wedding ceremonies began and I was constantly being called for one or the other occasion, it never failed to amaze me the amount of skilled and unskilled labor being a part of such an event in one’s life. Starting from choosing the outfits, to choosing the ingredients of the food being served, Indian weddings can truly be seen as the culmination of various strangers making a day special for a couple, who vows to make every day special for each other.

As cheery as it may seem, to be a part of such weddings is always an emotional rollercoaster and one to be cherished in every way possible. This wedding was a lesson and a guide in more than one way, and hope that you felt connected by reading about this week which was the one with the wedding, and about how I felt one with the wedding. New blog every Monday!
